Accessibility

Usable by everyone on the crew.

Synhelm is used on bright job sites, with gloves on, and by people who rely on a screen reader or bigger text. Here's what it does today.

Accessibility

  • Accessibility settings

Settings → Accessibility (office) or Accessibility on crew home. They're saved on that device, so each person can set up their own phone or computer.

    • Text size: Standard, Large, or Larger — words, buttons, and spacing all grow.
    • Reduce motion: turns off sliding and fading. If your device already asks for less motion, it's off automatically.
    • Stronger contrast: darker secondary text and borders, underlined links, and a thicker keyboard outline.
    • Vibration: a short buzz when you clock in or out, save a photo, or finish a task. iPhones and most computers don't let websites vibrate; the message on screen is always there too.
  • Screen readers and keyboard

Synhelm is built to work with the screen reader on your device: VoiceOver (iPhone, iPad, Mac), TalkBack (Android), and Narrator or NVDA (Windows). Turn it on in your device's accessibility settings.

Buttons, fields, and menus have names; clocking in and out, saved and failed uploads, and other changes are announced as they happen.

Keyboard: Tab and Shift+Tab move, Enter or Space presses, Escape closes menus and dialogs. The item you're on has a visible outline.

Your device's own text size and zoom keep working alongside these settings.

How we check it

The office, crew, and public screens are checked against the WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines with automated tests, and the main tasks are tried with the keyboard alone. Automated checks don't catch everything, and not every screen has been tried with every screen reader yet. If something gets in your way, please tell us — it's treated as a bug.
